Angela Alberga
Dr. Angela Alberga is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health, Kinesiology, and Applied Physiology at Concordia University. Her current research program focuses on understanding how societal, school and other institutional factors influence weight-related issues including obesity, eating disorders, physical inactivity, weight stigma and discrimination.
Dre Angela Alberga est professeure associée au département de la santé, kinésiologie et physiologie appliquée à l’université Concordia. Son programme de recherche actuel vise à mieux comprendre comment la société, l’école et autres facteurs institutionnels influencent les problématiques reliées au poids corporel dont l’obésité, les troubles alimentaires, l’inactivité physique ainsi que la stigmatisation et la discrimination sur le poids.
Jo-Anne Gilbert
Dr. Jo-Anne Gilbert has a PhD in kinesiology. Her scientific and professional background is centered around physical activity, nutrition and public health. She has been involved with Obesity Canada’s scientific activities for over 10 years.
Jo-Anne Gilbert est docteure en kinésiologie et son parcours scientifique et professionnel touche autant à l’activité physique, la nutrition et la santé publique. Elle participe aux activités scientifiques organisées par Obésité Canada depuis plus de 10 ans.
Pascale Jenkins
Pascale is a member of the Public Engagement Commitee. She believes that people wiht obesity should be able to thrive for happiness, fitness, physical and mental health. She hopes to contribute to a change of mentality.
Pascale est membre du “Public Engagement Committee” d’Obésité Canada. Elle croit que les individus qui vivent avec l’obésité devraient pouvoir aspirer au bonheur, à la forme physique ainsi qu’au bien-être psychologique et physique. Elle espère pouvoir contribuer à un changement de mentalités.
Cassandre Julien
Cassandre is a psychology student at the Université du Québec à Montréal (specialization: behavioural medicine). She works under the supervision of Drs. Kim Lavoie and Simon Bacon at the Montreal Behavioural Medicine Centre (https://mbmc-cmcm.ca) in the context of her doctoral thesis. Her research interests focus on the psychological and behavioural factors associated with weight outcomes post-bariatric surgery and the development and efficacy of comprehensive weight management interventions in this population.
Cassandre est une étudiante au doctorat en psychologie à l’Université du Québec à Montréal (spécialisation: médecine comportementale). Elle travaille sous la supervision des Drs. Kim Lavoie et Simon Bacon au Centre de Médecine Comportementale de Montréal (https://mbmc-cmcm.ca) dans le cadre de sa thèse doctorale. Ses intérêts de recherches portent sur les facteurs psychologiques et comportementaux associés aux résultats de poids après la chirurgie bariatrique ainsi que le développement et l’efficacité d’interventions comportementales auprès de cette population.
Mélanie Béland
Dr. Mélanie holds a PhD in psychology. She is currently doing a postdoctoral fellowship in epidemiology at the Institut Armand-Frappier from the INRS and is involved with the Centre pédiatrique d’intervention en prévention et en réadaptation cardiovasculaires (CIRCUIT) from Sainte-Justine Hospital (https://www.centrecircuit.com). Her research interests focus on lifestyle behaviours and how they may affect mental health in youth with overweight or obesity.
Dre Mélanie est docteure en psychologie. Elle effectue présentement un stage postdoctoral en épidémiologie à l’Institut Armand-Frappier de l’INRS et est impliqué au sein du Centre pédiatrique d’intervention en prévention et en réadaptation cardiovasculaires (CIRCUIT) de l’hôpital Sainte-Justine Hospital (https://www.centrecircuit.com). Elle s’intéresse à l’influence des habitudes de vie des jeunes ayant un problème de surpoids sur leur état de santé mentale.
Priscille Pana
Priscille is an epidemiologist and a public health professional working on health policy evaluation at the CHUM Research Center. Her research interests are on potential interventions evaluation, the social determinants of health and knowledge transfer. Her research focus on the epidemiology of childhood obesity as well as metabolic markers related to obesity and its related-diseases.
Priscille est une épidémiologiste et professionnelle de santé publique qui travaille sur l’évaluation des politiques de santé au Centre de recherche du CHUM. Ses intérêts de recherche comprennent l’évaluation des interventions potentielles, les déterminants sociaux de la santé et le transfert des connaissances. Ses travaux portent sur l’épidémiologie de l’obésité infantile ainsi que les marqueurs métaboliques en lien avec l’obésité et ses comorbidités.
