Position overview

The Research Coordinator will support Obesity Canada’s Research and Education portfolio, working closely with the Director of Education and Scientific Director. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment and is eager to contribute to research that informs real-world change.

The coordinator will play a key role in implementing research activities, supporting partnership engagement, organizing project workflows, and helping mobilize evidence for diverse audiences. As part of a small but ambitious team, the successful candidate will bring strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to equity, inclusion, and evidence-informed practice.

Opportunities & activities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating research activities across multiple projects, ensuring timelines and deliverables are met
  • Supporting the development of research proposals and grant submissions
  • Conducting literature reviews, data collection, and data synthesis
  • Assisting with research administration
  • Coordinating partnership engagement activities, including scheduling, communication, and documentation
  • Supporting qualitative and/or quantitative data management
  • Preparing research summaries, reports, and plain-language materials
  • Assisting with knowledge translation tools, resources, and dissemination activities
  • Maintaining organized project files, tracking progress, and supporting team communication
  • Liaising with partners, collaborators, and community members across disciplines and regions
Eligibility and qualifications

The ideal candidate will have completed a bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., public health, health sciences, social sciences, community health, population health).

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Experience conducting semi-structured interviews, focus groups, and analyzing both quantitative and qualitative data
  • Experience preparing grant proposals, research reports, and manuscripts for publication
  • Strong software skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), as well as comfort with internet search tools and the ability to learn new programs quickly
  • Knowledge of knowledge translation (KT) strategies, methodologies, and tools
  • Experience with digital tools, artificial intelligence, and their intersection with co-production of research and programming (asset)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, along with strong oral and written communication abilities
  • Exceptional organizational skills and creative problem-solving
  • Ability to engage in self-directed learning and work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within interdisciplinary teams
  • Ability to work effectively in diverse settings and foster inclusive, respectful engagement
  • Bilingualism (French/English) (asset)
Compensation

This position includes a competitive salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. The successful candidate will be eligible for Extended Benefits and a Remote Work Stipend.
