Obesity Canada’s Calgary Chapter hosts an annual Research Showcase to highlight innovative local research about obesity. This year’s Showcase will have a special focus on recent obesity-related policy changes. After a multiyear collaborative process, the Government of Canada has unveiled the new Canada’s Food Guide. Similarly, the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion in the United States published the 2ndEdition of the Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans. Our event will focus on how these new policies will impact the field of obesity research and how the guidelines will affect the care and support for those living with obesity. The day will include various short oral presentations, a poster session, and a keynote speaker. We welcome faculty, students, practitioners, and members of the public to attend and submit abstracts for presentation.

This year’s half-day conference will be held from 10am – 4pm on August 16th, 2019 at the Foothills Campus of the University of Calgary. The event will include lunch and refreshments. The event is free to attend; however, donations to Obesity Canada are greatly appreciated.
