Welcome To The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) Chapter Of Obesity Canada
Help Us Change The Way We View And Tackle Obesity!
At Obesity Canada – Greater Toronto Area (OC-GTA), our aim is to help educate local communities on the complexities of obesity and how to manage it, as well as dismantle the stigma associated with this chronic condition. Our local chapter was formed back in 2015, and embodies Obesity Canada’s three main pillars – respect, knowledge and action. This is something we try to portray in everything that we do so we can help Obesity Canada in their national movement of improving the lives of Canadians with obesity from coast to coast.
We recognize that weight gain and weight loss is attributed to a number of different factors and work hard to provide evidence based research as community facilitators when it comes to knowledge exchange between healthcare providers and the local community. Whether we’re hosting a public event or engaging with stakeholders, our ultimate goal is to create a positive network where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
Our members are an enthusiastic and dedicated group of volunteers with diverse backgrounds that include health practitioners, educators, fitness professionals, researchers, policy makers and people affected by obesity.
If you’re just as passionate as we are and want to be part of a brighter future for Canadians, no matter their size, get in touch with us today and join this national movement.
