Today’s member profile comes from Dr. Jean-Philippe Chaput, Ph.D., Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute, and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa. Dr. Chaput sits on the Obesity Canada Population, Public Policy and Health Systems Committee. 

Jean-Philippe Chaput is a Senior Scientist with the Healthy Active Living and Obesity Research Group at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario Research Institute and an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Ottawa. He attended the 1st Obesity Summer Boot Camp in Quebec City (2006), won the New Investigator Award from the Canadian Obesity Network in 2011 (Montreal), is past president of the Obesity Canada Gatineau-Ottawa Chapter (2015-2018), and currently serves as a committee member for the Population, Public Policy and Health Systems Committee at Obesity Canada. His research focuses on obesity prevention and the adoption of a healthy lifestyle in children and adolescents. He is particularly interested in the connection between sleep and obesity. His research aims to improve sleep patterns of children and adolescents in order to improve other lifestyle behaviours, weight regulation, and overall health.
