Dr. Claudia Gagnon is an endocrinologist at the University Hospital Center (CHU) of Quebec and an associate professor in the Department of Medicine at Laval University. She is also a fellow of the Quebec Health Research Fund (FRQS) and a clinician-researcher at the Quebec CHU Research Centre and the Research Centre of the Quebec University Heart and Respiratory Institute (IUCPQ). 

After completing her residency in endocrinology at the University of Sherbrooke in 2006, she completed a 3-year fellowship on bone metabolic diseases and phosphocalcic disorders in Melbourne, Australia. 

Her research focuses on the effect of obesity, type 2 diabetes and their treatments on bone health. Her projects are funded by Diabetes Canada, Diabetes Quebec and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). She has published 45 scientific papers and received several awards for her work including the 2018 Jean-Davignon Award from the FRQS Cardiometabolic, Diabetes and Obesity Network, the 2017 Research Award from the Federation of Quebec Medical Specialists and a 2015 Youth Researcher Award from the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research.
