Obesity Canada Student and New Professional (OC-SNP) 2021 Awards & Grants

The OC-SNP is very excited to announce the 2021 OC-SNP Awards! Over this past year, we have been very fortunate to see many individuals step up to create amazing content and host innovative events despite all of the uncertainty and concern for health that this year has brought us. Therefore, we hope to recognize some of our amazing champions through these awards. Below we have provided a summary of some of the awards that are available and you can find more information at this link.

The deadline for most awards is March 31st, 2021 while others are considered on an ongoing basis. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to us at oc-snp@obesitynetwork.ca.

Rising Star Award:

This annual award recognizes an individual who has promoted the work of OC-SNP through individual work, Chapter initiatives, mentoring SNPs, speaking at OC or OC-SNP events, helping OC-SNP chapters or other similar activities.

Deadline: March 31, 2021
Decision: April 7, 2021
Prize: $250 & free registration to the 7th Canadian Obesity Summit

Champion Award:

This annual award recognizes an active OC-SNP Chapter (or individual who belongs to an OC-SNP Chapter) who has promoted the work of OC-SNP.

Deadline: March 31, 2021
Decision: April 30, 2021
Prize: $250

Faculty Supervisor Award:

Students and new professionals may nominate their OC-SNP Chapter faculty supervisor who has demonstrated excellent mentorship in supporting their OC-SNP Chapter. This award aims to recognize a faculty member who excels in nurturing trainee research development in their discipline and exhibits a passion for mentoring SNPs.

Deadline: March 31, 2021
Decision: April 30, 2021 (for the same reasons above)
Prize: $250

Student Research Showcase Award:

To recognize the best oral presentations for PhD/PhD(c), Masters, and undergraduate categories of students and new professionals presenting at the OC Summit.

Deadline: Following the COS abstract submission deadlines
Decision: April 30, 2021
Prize: $75 gift card

Most Submissions: Student Research Showcase

This award is designed to encourage OC-SNP chapters to submit, and promote the call for abstracts.
