The St. Francis Xavier University chapter of Obesity Canada Student and New Professional (OC-SNP) network is piloting a new, inclusive physical activity initiative called OneTeam. OneTeam features athletes with a disability who have demonstrated potential and a desire to excel and compete in different areas of physical activity and sport.

The initiative aims to sustain the legacy of the successful 2018 National Special Olympic Games at StFX University. OneTeam involves varsity athletes providing active peer mentorship and developing an inclusive one-on-one exercise training plan to work with a local community-based athlete with a disability in a respective sport (track, skating, sledge, basketball, gym, soccer).

On Wednesday, February 27th the StFX OC-SNP Chapter held an event for the OneTeam athletes and volunteers at a varsity hockey game. This event was funded by the Obesity Canada Students and New Professionals executive. The event was a way to promote the program for other students, allow the volunteers to discuss their experiences in the program, as well as thank the volunteers for their time and effort thus far.
