Adult Obesity Guidelines Webinar Series

Obesity Canada, the University of Alberta’s Office of Lifelong Learning and the authors of the new Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines launched on August 11, 2020 a webinar series.

Developed by Obesity Canada and the Canadian Association of Bariatric Physicians and Surgeons, the new CPGs were authored by more than 60 Canadian health professionals, researchers and individuals living with obesity. A summary of the recommendations was published online in the Canadian Medical Association Journal on August 4th, and 19 in-depth chapters are available on the Obesity Canada website.

The Adult Obesity Guidelines: What’s New? webinar series will connect you with chapter authors discussing key concepts in obesity care, with live Q&A. Each of the six installments will be streamed live, access all six for only $50.

Learning objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  1. Provide obesity chronic disease management in a planned, proactive manner
  2. Support patients to understand how their root causes, comorbidities and personal context are related to their obesity management
  3. List, review and select therapeutic approaches (behavioural, medical, surgical) to help patients develop personalized plans to manage their obesity as a chronic disease.
