Obesity Canada
Obesity Canada is a leading organization in Canada that addresses the complex issue of obesity. We provide guidelines for healthcare professionals, offer professional educational programs, promote public awareness, and advocate for evidence-based policies.
By combining education, research, and advocacy, Obesity Canada strives to improve the understanding and management of obesity while supporting individuals affected by this disease.
Obesity is a prevalent, complex, progressive and relapsing chronic disease, characterized by abnormal or excessive body fat (adiposity), that impairs health. Obesity is a chronic disease, which means it lasts for a long time and requires ongoing management. It’s not something that can be easily fixed overnight. It’s like having a condition that needs regular attention and care, just like other chronic diseases such as diabetes or high blood pressure.
