Hello colleagues!

If you are a physician with expertise in obesity, I hope you will consider supporting my medical school research project by completing an online survey of obesity knowledge based on the 2020 Canadian Adult Obesity Clinical Practice Guidelines.

My name is Mark Rogers and I’m a 3rd year medical student at Dalhousie University in Halifax. Prior to medical school I enjoyed a career as a dietitian and Certified Bariatric Educator, and I remain passionate about advocating for obesity medicine in my future as a physician. My co-investigators for this project are Dr. Helena Piccinini-Vallis and Dr. Michael Vallis.

Among the systemic problems affecting obesity medicine is poor representation in medical education. I’ve developed a survey that will test guideline-based obesity knowledge, and am administering it to 1st and 4th year medical students, as well as physicians with expertise in obesity. Your participation will provide a valuable framework for understanding the scores of graduating medical students. Participation is anonymous and is expected to take about 25 minutes of your time.

You can learn more about the study bygoing to www.bit.ly/obesityquiz or by scanning the QR code below. If you have any questions, I would love to hear from you at Mark.Rogers@dal.ca.

Thank you for your consideration!

Sincerely,

Mark Rogers
