Today’s blog post comes from Claudia Holody. Claudia is a graduate student in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Alberta. She is also the current Communications Director of the OC-SNP National Executive.
Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, as always, the Obesity Canada Students and New Professionals National Executive strived to bring students and new professionals together through engaging online events and more. Here are some highlights from the OC-SNP 2020-2021 year as we start this new semester!
February 2021: Mentorship Webinar
A panel of incredible professionals in obesity research shared their experiences about being a mentor, their tips on how to approach a mentor in this new virtual world during the COVID-19 pandemic, and much more. Check out the event recording here!
March 2021: Pedometer/Odometer Challenge
From March 7th to March 13th, 2021, individuals competed on campuses across the country to get the most collective steps. We had participants from the University of Calgary, University of Alberta, Ryerson University, University of Toronto, and Laval University! See the results of the challenge here!
April 2021: OC-SNP Awards

June 2021: Infographics Competition
From June 1st to June 6th, 2021, OC-SNP social media followers voted for their favorite of three infographic finalists. See the beautiful infographics and the results of the competition here!
