We would like to take a moment to express our heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mary Forhan for her outstanding contributions as the Scientific Director of Obesity Canada during her two-year term.

Throughout her term, Dr. Forhan’s leadership and dedication has propelled Obesity Canada to the forefront of obesity research. Her commitment to evidence-based practices and collaborative efforts, has played a key role in the development and continuing adoption of the Canadian Practice Guidelines for Adult Obesity, establishing new funding for trainees and expanding the diversity of partners working with and supporting Obesity Canada. 

Under her guidance, Obesity Canada has provided invaluable resources, support, and guidance to individuals and communities affected by obesity. Dr. Forhan’s compassionate approach and tireless advocacy for equitable access to care have made a significant impact on countless lives. Her work to expand obesity training will continue to improve lives across the world. 

We are grateful for Dr. Forhan’s unwavering commitment to challenging weight bias and discrimination, fostering inclusivity, and shaping a more compassionate society. Her passion and expertise have ignited important conversations which will continue to create positive change.
