Recruiting for the OC-SNP Video Series “From Grad School and Beyond”

Today’s post comes from Malcolm Snow. Malcolm recently completed his BSc in the Department of Psychology at Memorial University of Newfoundland. He is also the current Finance Coordinator of the OC-SNP National Executive.

In addition to acting as Finance Coordinator for the OC-SNP Executive of 2020-2021, I am responsible for editing the videos of our featured series “From Grad School and Beyond.” I wanted to take this opportunity to re-familiarize and put forward a call for new candidates to interview in this popular series. 

From Grad School and Beyond, or “FGSB” for short, is a video series that made its debut in 2019. The series features graduate students, new professionals, or workers in academia or industry that focus on obesity-related research or work. The videos are approximately 3 – 5 minutes long, and guests are asked questions about their educational experiences, key moments that led them to where they are today, what inspired them to pursue these goals, and provide advice to people who aspire to hopefully work in similar fields. As ambitious students who share a passion for making change, the series provides fabulous insight for the many different careers that exist within the field of obesity.

Historically, the OC-SNP’s goal for From Grad School and Beyond was to provide one video every two or three months. However, the OC-SNP executive have decided to expand this program by hopefully producing a new video every month. We believe that this is an opportune time to showcase the hard work that is going on within our community. 

In order to make this initiative a success, we need your help. We are looking for new people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to interview for this video series. The interview process is simple. Due to public health COVID-19 restrictions, all interviews are conducted virtually. We provide a list of simple interview questions, you record your responses, and send the video to us! We will take care of the editing and publication process.

All previously released videos are available for viewing on YouTube. To date, 13 videos have been released, with a combined viewership of over 1500+ views.
