It’s been more than a decade since the Canadian Obesity Network was launched as a knowledge exchange and networking platform under the federal Networks of Centres of Excellence program.

That funding ran its course after four years, but here we are, still going strong, thanks to support from our FOCUS partners, individual donors and revenue from grants, events and online learning modules.

Over time, the network has grown to include more than 15,000 professional members, 5,000 public supporters and dozens of public and private sector partners. Last fall, we became a registered charity.

As of June 27, 2018, we become Obesity Canada. It’s a name that better captures our evolving mission to merge the goals and strategies of health systems, healthcare providers, public and private payers, policy makers, the research community, the private sector and people affected by obesity.

We’re all in this together now!

Please note: Going forward, members no longer have individual profiles on the Obesity Canada website. This is in response to challenges with keeping profiles current, as well as new Canadian and European privacy and electronic communications legislation and increasingly challenging online security threats. After a decade building a community around obesity prevention and treatment, however, we are confident that the original member profiles are no longer as vital as they were when we began this journey together.  (That said, we still connect people! Let us know if you need to find someone for collaboration, advice etc. at info@obesitynetwork.ca).
